Since 2002 Paul Ratner has provided far-sighted IT leadership for Humana Inc. as Information Technology Vice President, IT Operations, and currently oversees 400 associates. Paul's extensive IT background in multi-site, high availability, distributed processing disciplines in the health and personal insurance industries serves us well at Humana, where he has oversight of Humana's data centers and data administration, in addition to information security, network management, capacity planning, risk assessment, quality assurance, hardware and software installation and maintenance, and Help Desk services.

Over the past eight years Humana has grown from a regional health benefits company to a corporation serving clients and members in all fifty U.S. states. Now with more than 11 million medical members, Humana uses innovative programs and solutions to ensure a reliable and easy-to-use experience for those members. Information technology innovation has been critical to Humana's growth and the satisfaction of our customers, and Paul's leadership has been a vital part of our success.

Under Paul's oversight, state-of-the-art data centers are an important feature of Humana's inventive IT landscape. The newest and most forward-looking data center, located just south of Louisville, will open during first quarter 2009 and replace Humana's oldest data center. The new data facility supports Humana's need to provide sophisticated technology-based services to its growing membership, while efficiently and safely housing more compact servers with more powerful processors. Paul has noted that the new data center will meet Humana's technology needs for the next twenty years while reducing energy consumption, realizing cost savings, and helping to accelerate global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices.

Before joining Humana, Paul had previously served as Vice President and CIO at Prudential Insurance Company as well as Assistant Vice President at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York.
